“Bout U” has one of the most satisfying second drops imaginable. The first drop is borderline false with the chopped up synths not giving the full, powerful effect. The minimal first drop is what makes the second so, so satisfying as it fills in the gaps that you audibly wanted the first time around. The chorus is so smooth and a great juxtaposition to the slow verses. Overall, the track is a good blend of chill and driving which is quite a difficult effect to pull-off. ARTY released his tribute song to Avicii and it’s a beautiful embodiment of both ARTY’s style as well as the melodies that Avicii so elegantly designed. The lyrics are minimal and simple, yet incredibly touching: “You are loved. You are loved, and not forgotten. You are loved, and not forgotten.”

What stands out the most about Gryffin’s productions are that they share many elements in terms of structure and design with other artists you’re familiar with, yet he always manages to make the songs uniquely his own. “Tie Me Down” is no different. With a serene vocal performance from Ellie Duhe and smooth guitar rifts (a Gryffin staple), this song is expressive and emotive, yet also surprisingly relaxing. Feel free to put this one on repeat.

Featuring a few previous Song of the Day entries, Ryse Radio Ep. 8 is a bouncy mix full of bright house tracks ranging in style from electro to progressive. Pay special attention to the shift from the original “Out My Mind” to the APEK remix; it might surprise you. There are a few old school hidden gems thrown in that you might not be familiar with such as the CAZZETTE remix of EDX’s “Everything” and the ever beautiful original “These Are The Days” by Audien back when he was fully into progressive house production.

Illenium has been putting out new tracks consistently over the summer and recently debuted “Take You Down” at a festival just a few weeks ago with its official release today. This song is very personal to him as he wrote it about his previous heroin overdose and the impact that his addiction had on his family, in particular, his mother. He put out this statement with the track:

The most interesting part of this song is that the vocals are actually from his friend Tim James, pitched up making them sound like a woman’s voice.
