Song of the Day: Worry – Felix Cartal ft. Victoria Zaro

Off of the Canadian producer Felix Cartal’s newest album ‘Next Season’ comes “Worry”, a smooth progressive house song with soothing vocals from Victoria Zaro. Felix had a huge year in 2017, capped in off with a nomination at the Juno awards for Dance Record of the Year for his track “Get What You Give”.

‘Next Season’ is a full, full album at 18 songs, but they are all certainly worth checking out. You can find the lyrics for “Worry” below.

Song of the Day: Almost Home – Sultan & Shepard

The Canadian duo Sultan + Shepard brought two vocalists into the fold on this track with an all-time EDM singer in Nadia Ali and newcomer IRO. “Almost Home” was nominated for the Dance Recording of the Year at the Juno Awards (a Canadian only music awards show). As far as EDM songs go, this is a slightly lighter track, but enjoyable all the same. It’s a perfect song as you wind down for the weekend.

Song of the Day: Gecko (Overdrive) – Oliver Heldens

One of Oliver Helden’s first tracks that put him on the map, “Gecko”, later to be re-named “Overdrive” when the vocals from Becky Hill were added, clearly displays his early talents as a producer. A little background on this track: The Dutch artist, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the future house genre, was signed by Tiesto’s label Musical Freedom after Tiesto heard this track. They later collaborated together to create “The Right Song”. Take a listen below!

The instrumental version is included in Ryse Radio Ep. 7, fitting together seemlessly with Jauz’s “Meant To Love You” as if they were meant to be together…

Avicii’s Family Releases Statement Implying Suicide

More sad news about Avicii’s death from a statement from his family implying suicide. Hearing this makes his passing that much harder to handle. The full statement from the family reads:

Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.

An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.

When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.

He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness.

He could not go on any longer.

He wanted to find peace.

Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.

Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed.

The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive.

We love you,

Your family

If there was a way all of his fans could’ve shared the happiness and joy they received from his life’s work back with him, maybe he wouldn’t have chosen the path that he did. We’ll miss you forever Tim.
