Song of the Day: Where Would We Be – ROZES & Nicky Romero

Song of the Day: Where Would We Be – ROZES & Nicky Romero

ROZES teamed up with Nicky Romero to put out a catchy “Closer”-feel type track, complete with snaps and a minimalistic chord driven melody. It’s a formula that works well and allows ROZES lyrics to shine through, which is clearly the point.

It’s also worth checking out Nicky Romero’s edit of his own collaboration. It’s much more up-tempo and gives the song more depth moving from a beautiful piano line into buzzy chorus synths.

“Where Would We Be” Lyrics:

Been a minute since high school
And I still kinda miss you (ah)
Is it weird that I do, that I do?
Are you still in your basement
Smoking weed with the same friends?
Just living for the weekend
Like we used to
Up all night, mattress on the floor
Wasting time, Nintendo 64
Shouldn’t think about it anymore, anymore
Where would we be
If we were still passed out on your sofa, watchin’ TV?
And it was still my head on your shoulder
Where would we be if in another lifetime
I didn’t move to California for the limelight?
I wouldn’t have to wonder what it would’ve been like
If we’da only fucking got it right the first time
Where would we be?
Where would we be?
And I know I shouldn’t reminisce
I’ve been drinking and I miss my accomplice
I know it’s late
Different time zones, different states
But I bet you’re still
Up all night, mattress on the floor
Wasting time, Nintendo 64
Shouldn’t think about it anymore, anymore
Where would we be
If we were still passed out on your sofa, watchin’ TV?
And it was still my head on your shoulder
Where would we be if in another lifetime
I didn’t move to California for the limelight?
I wouldn’t have to wonder what it would’ve been like
If we’da only fucking got it right the first time
Where would we be?
Where would we be?
If we never went home
Stayed out still stoned
If the sun never rose
We’d still be close
But that’s not how it goes
Same song gets old
When you’re living for, when your living for the weekend (living for the weekend)
Just living for the weekend
Where would we be
If we were still passed out on your sofa, watchin’ TV?
And it was still my head on your shoulder
Where would we be if in another lifetime
I didn’t move to California for the limelight?
I wouldn’t have to wonder what it would’ve been like
If we’da only fucking got it right the first time
Where would we be?
Where would we be?
Where would we be?
Song of the Day: Horizon – Seven Lions, Tritonal & Kill The Noise

Song of the Day: Horizon – Seven Lions, Tritonal & Kill The Noise

“Horizon”, a collaboration between Seven Lions, Tritonal, and Kill The Noise has been released and it is quite the interesting track. Listening through, it’s easy to pick out which act influenced each particular section. For example, the minimalistic breakdown after the first chorus seems to be where Kill The Noise put his stamp on the track as that’s neither a Seven Lions or Tritonal type sound. There seems to be less of a Tritonal influence on this song, given its melodic bass pace that is more true to Seven Lions, but we’re sure Tritonal made their impact melodically and with how the vocals by HALIENE are worked in. Take a listen!

Ryse Radio Avicii Tribute

Ryse Radio Avicii Tribute

It’s been almost a month size Avicii’s death and it was clear from the outpouring of support around the world just how many people he touched with his music. Tim was an innovator and is of the main reasons why dance music is now mainstream.

This tribute mix starts with some of Avicii’s earlier sounds which many people may not be familiar with and shows how he evolved his style over time. The mix isn’t perfectly chronological, but it gives a good enough idea of his earlier versus later styles.

It’s interesting how people feel when they listen to his songs now. Some say that it makes them feel melancholy and that it’s hard to listen without thinking about the internal conflict that Tim was dealing with. Others said that it his music still brings them the same joy it always has. For me, I do feel the sadness of knowing he’s gone, but I still get the same goosebumps I always have when “Levels” comes on. Tim’s music will let him live on, and knowing that is comforting.

Song of the Day: Happy Ending – Joe Garston

Song of the Day: Happy Ending – Joe Garston

Joe Garston is not very well known but has put out a few great, under the radar tracks over the years. Our favorite is “Happy Ending” featuring vocals from Andrew Farr. Joe’s synths are uniquely his and the structure of “Happy Ending” is where they are really able to shine. It’s a fairly simple song, but its simplicity is what makes it so fantastic. In case you missed this one a few years ago, now is the time to check it out.

Lyrics:

And I’m always
Watching you
All those younger days
I was watching you

And I can’t breathe
When I’m close to you
And I don’t see
Anybody else when I’m holding you

Song of the Day: Worry – Felix Cartal ft. Victoria Zaro

Song of the Day: Worry – Felix Cartal ft. Victoria Zaro

Off of the Canadian producer Felix Cartal’s newest album ‘Next Season’ comes “Worry”, a smooth progressive house song with soothing vocals from Victoria Zaro. Felix had a huge year in 2017, capped in off with a nomination at the Juno awards for Dance Record of the Year for his track “Get What You Give”.

‘Next Season’ is a full, full album at 18 songs, but they are all certainly worth checking out. You can find the lyrics for “Worry” below.

It’s a slow day running in place
Making no pay trying to stay sane
Fluorescent haze
Needing some space from this refrain
Clouding my brain
Don’t want to stay, need an escape

Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worries, no
Won’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down

I’m alright, I’m alright
Won’t lose my mind if I don’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
I’m alright, I’m alright
Yeah, I’ll be fine if I don’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down

Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down

Another small fight with some cheap wine
Begging for time to go easy on me tonight
I know I can’t lie, I crystalize when I try
So put the bright lights right in my eyes

Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worries, no
Won’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down

I’m alright, I’m alright
Won’t lose my mind if I don’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
I’m alright, I’m alright
Yeah, I’ll be fine if I don’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down

I’m alright, I’m alright
Won’t lose my mind if I don’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
I’m alright, I’m alright
Yeah, I’ll be fine if I don’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down

Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down
Hold me down, down, down

Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worries, no
Won’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
Won’t let my worries
Won’t let my worries, no
Won’t let my worry’s weight
Hold me down, down, down
