The London based producer Leon Lour takes an already great track from Borgeous in “Going Under” and adds some of his personal style to it. Playing off the soft vocals in the verse allows Leon Lour to create a more emphatic chorus by chopping the vocals and pushing the four on the floor rhythm. Ellie Goulding’s cover of The Weeknd’s “High for This” is one that I think fell under the radar for many a few years back so we wanted to bring it back to the light. Originally released only as a bonus track on the UK special edition of her album Halcyon, Ellie takes “High for This” to an entirely new level with her unique voice. This cover was produced by Xaphoon Jones, who we just realized is the “Bang” half of Chiddy Bang and who is known for laying out some of the best instrumental backings for vocalists.
Make sure you have your bass all the way up on this one. Trust us.
Zedd just released his new track “The Middle” this morning featuring Maren Morris and Grey. It’s evocative of “Stay” as it carries many of the same vocal styles and a minimal instrumental chorus opening. He seems to be taking his time to learn from fellow German Hans Zimmer on how to effectively use a clock ticking sound to add a sense of pace to his tracks (yes, that time pun was 100% intentional) as he’s included this in both “Stay” and now “The Middle”. There’s no doubt this song will be a hit so enjoy it now before it gets overplayed on the radio.
Here’s what Zedd, Maren, and Grey all had to say about this new release:
We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be able to finally share it with everyone. It was super fun working with Maren because she is clearly an amazing singer and very talented musician. And, I always love working with Grey because we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible. – Zedd
I met Zedd in Nashville several weeks ago when he came to town to record my vocal for “The Middle”. My fans know that my sounds is reflective of my many influences as a songwriter and artist and I think they’ll be ecstatic to hear this collaboration with him and Grey! – Maren Morris
Some songs come really quickly and naturally, but for a while there it seemed like this song didn’t want to come out. We ran into obstacle after obstacle, but we kept fighting for it because we knew this song was special. This is also our first time working with a country singer, and the different styles ended up fitting perfectly! SO glad that we can finally share this one with you, so enjoy! – Grey

Song of the Day: A Different Way (Tritonal Remix) – DJ Snake & Lauv
We’ve never been short of appreciation for Tritonal in the past and their remix of DJ Snake’s “A Different Way” is yet another showcase of their ability to put their own beautiful touch on a track. The original chorus by DJ Snake wasn’t terrible, but in some ways it didn’t seem to fit with the soft tone of the vocals. Tritonal managed to do an incredible job of adding new synths and a new feel to the chorus to match the vocal tone and make the overall sound seem more complete. This one isn’t on Spotify yet, so take a listen below and check back for it later.
While this song is a few years old and more of a summer jam than a mid-December Christmas song, it’s too good not to share and listen to if you’ve not yet heard it. “Kings of Summer” is the track that helped put ayokay on the map back in 2015 and he’s grown immensely in his production abilities since then.
I was lucky enough to see him open for Autograf and Gryffin a few months back and literally bumped into him in the crowd after his set. He’s an incredibly nice and humble guy, which is something you can almost feel come through in all of his songs.
