Westworld Season 2 Official Trailer

Westworld Season 2 Official Trailer

HBO released the Westworld Season 2 Trailer this morning and if their intention is to get you hyped while also completely confusing you, then this trailer does its job very, very well.

-Spoilers ahead-

We don’t see much of Shogun/Samuari World that was teased at the end of the first season other than a few quick cuts with Maeve in a kimono, likely looking for her “daughter”. However, we do get a few glimpses of what looks like the world outside of the theme parks and it looks like Dolores is there. She will clearly be making some very interesting moves this season now that she is fully awakened.

It seems like the battle should be one-sided between the Delos security team, who have off-road vehicles, armor, and high powered assault rifles and the hosts who have horses and 1800’s era rifles and pistols, so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out and how the hosts manage to maintain their recently gained position of power.

The first teaser trailer that aired during the Super Bowl featured a beautiful rendition of Kanye’s “Runaway” by Ramin Djawadi. This new trailer features another cover by Djwadi, but this time its of Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box”. If you listened carefully in the first season, there was also an orchestral version of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black”. Needless to say, we’re excited to hear what other songs Djawadi takes on this season.

There’s also a Delos website online that hints at some of the parks, but offers little information. You can check it out by typing 52.89.126.34. into your search bar or by clicking here.

Below is a great explanation and breakdown video of everything that happened in case you want a refresher or if you are still confused about any parts of the plot or backstory. It’s a bit long at just over 16 minutes, but there are many minor details the casual viewer may have missed.

Spoiler warning (obviously) if you haven’t seen the first season yet.

The first episode of season two airs on April 22nd.
